The Federal Club Invitational

The Federal Club  ·  Glen Allen, VA  ·  June 13, 2026

An Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay design carved through hardwood forests just outside Richmond, opened 2007. Every hole carries the Palmer stamp — bold, strategic, and built for players who want to attack. The kind of course The King himself would have relished playing a match on.

Style

Bold, Strategic, Built to Attack

Arnold Palmer didn't just win golf tournaments — he designed courses that played like he would have wanted to attack them. The Federal Club, built in partnership with longtime collaborator Ed Seay and opened in 2007, is exactly that kind of course. Located in the hardwood forests of Glen Allen just outside Richmond, the routing uses the forest canopy as both beauty and weapon.

The course has an inherent boldness in its architecture: par 5s that dare you to go for it, par 4s where the approach from the wrong side of the fairway makes the green nearly unplayable. Palmer's fingerprint is on every aggressive design choice — wider landing zones invite driver, but the second shot angles punish the timid.

This is match play golf the way Palmer would have drawn it up.
